Inhalt:
Please note: this workshop will take place in English. In this workshop we will explore central principles of teaching and learning in higher education and will apply these to the participants’ specific teaching and learning settings. We will engage with some central aspects of how learning works, examine the principle of constructive alignment as the starting point of course planning at university and try out several methods for activating students. Furthermore, we will discuss and reflect on how we understand our role as educators in higher education and the implications this has for our approach to teaching and learning.

The participants are able: - to explain central principles of teaching and learning in higher education - to define their role in the teaching and learning environment - to design their courses according to the principle of constructive alignment - to activate and motivate students with a range of teaching and learning methods
Referent*in:
Miriam Gertzen works as research associate at the University of Cologne’s Centre for Higher Education Development and has previously taught in the field of English Literatures and Cultures for several years. Her focus areas in the context of competence-based teaching and learning comprise the topics of academic writing and writing across the curriculum, motivating students, social and emotional learning as well as activating and cooperative teaching and learning methods.
Kostenhinweis:
Die Teilnahmegebühr in Höhe von 100€ pro Workshop-Tag (8 Arbeitseinheiten) pro Teilnehmer*in wird für Lehrende und wiss. Nachwuchs der Universität zu Köln in der Regel von den Dekanaten der jeweiligen Fakultät übernommen. Für die Philosophische Fakultät können Einschränkungen gelten.
